Loading... Please wait...Cathedral Window is the most elegant and rich of quilting methods. The folding of fabric, the multi-dimensional aspects off the “windows”, the layers of stitching and fabric all combine to create a wonderful, complex looking piece. One of the differences between Cathedral Window quilting and other methods is that as all the pieces are folded individually, they require no backing or binding. The secret is that the process is not difficult and with a little patience and learning, you can do it easily.
As a background to the workshop we will have on display an antique quilt to give a glimpse of history and to inspire and connect participants to the roots of quilting. There will also be examples of bags, cushions, wall hangings and dresses.
The workshop is a worthwhile opportunity to invest 3 hours of your time to learn or become reacquainted with this method. It is a hands on quilt session. All the fabrics and materials will be provided and you can expect to come away having started a 16” x 16” piece which you can then use for a wide variety of purposes.
Material Fee: Fabric only, €7 Euro from each student.
Supply List: Hand sewing needles, black and white thread, sharp scissors and a marking pencil in white.
